The district court in Hamburg decided in its decree of May 12, 1998, that for direct or indirect references to outside Internet- pages ("links"), which are not within the area of responsibility of the author, a liability obligation would come into force. According to the district court this can only be prevented by dissociating oneself explicitely from these contents. Those responsible for the Census pages declare in this sense: “We dissociate ourselves hereby expressly from all contents of all linked pages which are not within the area of our responsibility.”
