The structure of the document records

Documents, such as codices or books are recorded in the database as entries with many branches. Similar to architectural monuments whose limbs comprise dependent Children entries, documents are represented by means of a hierarchical tree structure.

The single folios are subordinate to the codex, which is a Father entry. The folios, in turn, can also have Children entries, e.g., the single Quadrants of a folio.
Printed works as Father entries can have many Child levels. E.g., chapters can be subordinated under single books, pages under chapters, and lines under pages.
