'Eine Motivwanderung von der Antike bis heute'. Opening on October 23, 2014, 7 p.m., in the atrium of Pergamonpalais, Georgenstraße 47, 10117 Berlin

A patch of grass in the middle of the atrium of the Institute for Art and Visual History is inviting to a special "Dejeuner sur l'herbe" together with Raphael and Manet, Picasso and Tacita Dean: a space for your daily breakfast, and at the same time the centrepiece of an exhibition.

Inspired by an article by Aby Warburg, the exhibition follows the migration of a motif from an ancient sarcophagus relief through the history of art and art history, through reception and adaptation. Focusing on one informative example, a presentation projected on the wall and five thematic sections introduce key questions on the reception of antiquity and its study, that has been at the heart of the Census of Antique Works of Art and Architecture Known in the Renaissance since its founding almost 70 years ago.

The exhibition is open from October 27 through December 18, 2014, Mondays to Thursdays, from 10 a.m. till 2 p.m.
