27. April 2026

The article “Il Census of Antique Works of Art and Architecture Known in the Renaissance: origini, metodi e prospettive future” has been published in the new volume La forma delle Muse: un dialogo di parole e immagini, edited by Alessandra Coen, Maria Elisa Micheli, and Anna Santucci.

This open access volume brings together the proceedings of the international conference held in Urbino from 9–11 December 2024. Its contributions explore the relationship between words and images across classical antiquity, its reception, and the digital future of cultural heritage.

The essay examines the history and current development of the Census. It traces the project’s origins, its transformation from card index to digital database, and recent revisions to its data model. The article also reflects on the role of digital photography, semantic modeling, open data, and AI-assisted research in shaping future approaches to the reception of antiquity.

The volume is available for download here.
