An article published by Salvatore Settis in the Sunday culture pages of the Italian paper “Il Sole 24 Ore” reflects on the history of the Census and its methodology, which is compared to the approach taken in the volumes “Taste and the Antique. The Lure of Classical Sculpture” by Francis Haskell and Nicholas Penny (1981). This discussion was prompted by the recent publication of the new edition of Taste and the Antique by Adriano Aymonino and Eloisa Dodero (Harvey Miller Press, 2024).
Both Settis and Penny will be speaking at the conference co-organised by Kathleen Christian and Adriano Aymonino, The Future of the Antique, which will take place in London from 10–12 December, 2025.
